Oh My Oh My Meatballs Falling From The Sky

If Winter snow delivers fun making a snowman, what does Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs bring? Well, movie fun, of course.

The movie Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2009 is an animated adventure that had Golden Globe nomination.

Now, we are used to weather reports that predict rain, snow, sleet and sometimes impending hurricanes or tornados and the like. But weather in this movie takes on a whole different dimension.

Meatballs (and other food) tumbling from the sky come into play when
an inventor with good intentions in the town Chewandswallow comes up with the idea for a machine that will cause the clouds above to rain down food instead of the natural rain or snow that is the familiar weather experience. When his invention begins to work, it’s great at first, resulting in an abundance of food for the townsfolk. It gets out of hand, however, creating quite an adventure as the inventor works as fast as he can to get things back under control.

This is a fun movie for children and for the whole family. The guidance rating is PG (because there’s some mild language briefly).

It is obtainable on both DVD and on Blu-ray.

Two of the voices for the movie are Bill Hadler and Anna Faris.

Comedian Bill Hadler, who does the voice of the inventor in this movie, is also known for his roles in Hoodwinked 2: Hood vs. Evil, MacGruber, Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder, just to name a few. He is also part of the regular cast on Saturday Night Live and is a writer, as well.

Anna Faris co-starred in Lost in Translation; some other Anna Faris movies are Observe and Report, The House Bunny and Just Friends, among others. Her acting career took off when she had a role in the Scary Movie series, at which time she became more well-known for her acting roles.

The movie is based on a book by the same title, written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett, published in the year 1982 by Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing. Judi Barrett has written many books for children, which are well-loved. A few others are Pickles to Pittsburgh and Things That Are Most in the World. The book’s illustrator, Ron Barrett, has illustrated many other children’s books, as well. His illustrations have been on exhibition at The Louvre in Paris and have received honors by the Society of Illustrators.

The site teachers.net has a series of free lesson plans on that site, one of which is for teaching compound words, using a read-aloud of the Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs book, along with flash cards and having each student draw a picture of their home with their favorite foods raining on it. By searching with the name of the book title on their site, you’ll see a list of the lesson plans available that go with that book. These lesson plans are written in a step-by-step format, giving fun ways to use the book as an educational tool.

The book has been popular for some time and now the movie, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, based on the book, is captivating and fun, well worth seeing.

TV Show American Dad

American Dad is a satirical American animated series owned by Underdog Productions and Fuzzy Door Productions and produced in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

It was created by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, as well as two former Family Guy writers, Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman. The pilot episode aired in the United States on Fox on February 6, 2005, thirty minutes after the end of Super Bowl XXXIX; the regular series began May 1, 2005, after the season premiere of Family Guy. American Dad follows the events of CIA agent Stan Smith and his family.
The series is currently in its fifth season, which premiered on September 27, 2009. It has been officially renewed for a sixth season; renewals are made ahead of time in order to facilitate the extensive production line of animated shows. Since January 2008, Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim program block reaired the show’s syndication.

The show centers around the domestic life of it’s nominal title character, Stan Smith, a staunchly conservative Republican CIA agent, and self-proclaimed uber-patriot. He is married to Francine Smith, a fairly ditzy housewife who is trying to make up for a wild youth. Their two children are Hayley Smith a passionately left-wing college-aged activist, and Steve Smith, an awkward teenage geek. The Smith family is also in posessesion of two bizarre nonhumans — Roger, an escaped alien from Area 51 who Stan is covertly housing in defiance of his employer, and Klaus, a goldfish whom the CIA implanted with the brain of an East German Olympic skier.
Plots generally center around the misadventures of various family members in their respective realms. Reoccurring themes include Stan’s desire to see Steve mature “properly,” Roger’s desires to establish a life outside of the house, and Hayley’s desire to rebel against her father’s politics.

Opening sequence

Similar to other animated shows’ opening sequences, American Dad! features a recurring gag that is changed for every episode, like The Simpsons’ couch gag and Bart Simpson’s chalkboard punishments.
This originally took the form of a newspaper headline, usually a topical, satirical joke directed at the United States Government, the media, or current affairs. Examples include “Child obesity up, pedophilia down” (”Four Little Words”), “Economy turns corner, falls down stairs” (”Roger Codger”), or “Bush finally gets joke about last name” (”Deacon Stan, Jesus Man”). A notable exception is the episode “Office Spaceman”, which has the headline, “ALIEN SPOTTED!” (featuring a picture of Roger on the front page) that shifts the sequence directly into the episode itself.
As of season 4, the opening sequence has been replaced, starting with the episode “1600 Candles”. While featuring the same music, most of the interaction with the family has been changed. Replacing the newspaper gag used in the first three seasons is Roger popping up next to Stan in the family’s SUV to sing the final “Good Morning, U.S.A.!”, wearing a different costume each time. Roger’s sudden appearance causes Stan to end the sequence by crashing into the flagpole at the C.I.A. building.

Watch Romeo Must Die (2000) – Free Movies Online

The film “Watch Romeo Must Die (2000)” opens at Silk’s (played by DMX) nightclub, where Po Sing (played by Jon Kit Lee), the son of Chinese Triad boss Ch’u Sing (played by Henry O), is confronted by several African-American gang members. Po’s bodyguards, led by Kai (played by Russell Wong) come to his aid, resulting in a fight in the club. After the Chinese are ushered out of the nightclub, Kai argues with Po, resulting in the latter driving away in anger.

The next morning, Po Sing’s body is found dangling from a light pole, dead. The news quickly travels to Ch’u, as well as the boss of the black gang, Isaak O’Day (played by Delroy Lindo).

The scene shifts to Hong Kong, where Po’s brother, Han Sing (played by Jet Li), is currently incarcerated. Formerly a cop, Han had taken the fall for his brother and father, who have both since escaped to America. Upon hearing of his brother’s death, Han breaks out of prison and heads for the US.

The character of Trish O’Day (played by Aaliyah in her first film role) is then introduced. Although the daughter of a notorious crime boss, Trish wants nothing to do with her father or crime, and is reluctant when Maurice (played by Anthony Anderson), working for her father, comes to act as her bodyguard and babysitter.

Trish manages to give Maurice the slip at a music store and gets into a cab, which coincidentally Han is stealing. The two drive for Trish’s house, and along the way, they become fast friends. Meanwhile, Isaak is meeting with shady businessman Vincent Roth (played by Edoardo Ballerini), where it is revealed they are planning to build a football stadium.

Trish then runs into Colin O’Day (played by D.B. Woodside), her brother, at her store. Unlike Trish, Colin is willing to follow in his father’s footsteps and go into the world of business. At the same time, Han breaks into his deceased brother’s apartment, reminiscing about when the pair emigrated to Hong Kong by sea as children. Using the phone’s redial function, he discovers the last number Po called before he died; Serpentine Fire, Trish’s store.

At a diner, Trish is then accosted by Mac (played by Isaiah Washington), Isaak’s leading agent and all-around best man, who stresses the need for Trish’s safety due to the rising level of gang warfare. Upon arriving home, she runs into Han, who has followed her in order to talk to her about his brother’s death. Maurice and other gangsters under the employ of Isaak then arrive, who find Han, resulting in a fight where Han then steals Maurice’s car and drives away.

Han then shows up at Po’s funeral, where he confronts his father and demands to know the identity of his brother’s killer. Afterwards, Han meets up with Kai, who explains the reason for the gang warfare – half of the precious waterfront property is owned by the Triad, the other half owned by assorted black gangsters and businessmen. Battle is erupting to determine which side will result in controlling the majority of the property.

Han meets Trish again, inquiring about Po’s death, during which a humorous football sequence occurs. Later, at Colin’s apartment, Colin and a friend are thrown out of a window by an unidentified assassin. Han then returns to Po’s place to find it ransacked. Han then sees Trish amongst the mess, and she tells him about a childhood memory between her and Colin. Finding a list of addresses hidden in a cane in Po’s car, Han and Trish decide to visit them, only to find that the Chinese owners have been killed by assassins.

After a chase sequence, Han confronts one of the assassins, only to discover she is actually Chinese. After bringing this information to his father, Ch’u dismisses it as a plot by Isaak. Another scene then follows where Mac muscles a black fisherman out of his waterfront estate. Then Kai and Chinese agents arrive at a Chinese-owned waterfront business, where the Triad agents kill the Chinese owners and take their property deeds. It is revealed that the entire conspiracy is actually a plot by Ch’u and Mac to rob all the waterfront owners of their precious property in order to sell it to Roth, who is planning to use the land to build a stadium.

Deciding to take action, Han and Trish go to Silk’s club, the only place on the list of addresses that has yet to be invaded or signed over. There, they witness Mac killing Silk in order to obtain his land deeds. Han is then beaten unconscious, and when he comes to he is in a warehouse surrounded by Maurice and other gang members. In an extended fight sequence, Han manages to escape, and heads for Trish.

At Roth’s estate, Ch’u signs over his ill-gotten property deeds for a vast sum of money, followed by Isaak then arriving to do the same. However, Isaak changes his mind and decides not to sell his property to Roth, but instead go into business with Roth and become his partner in the management of the stadium. Fed up, Mac turns on Isaak, and reveals the plot and that he is, in fact, Colin’s killer. Enraged, Isaak attacks Mac, resulting in a gunfight between Mac’s agents and Roth’s agents.

In the ensuing chaos, Roth attempts to escape with the deeds, but Mac chases him, causing most of the deeds to become lost. Han then arrives and confronts Mac on the rooftop, where Mac is shot dead by Trish. Han then leaves for Ch’u’s place, intending to confront his father once and for all.

Along the way, Han gets into a fight with Kai, whom he finally kills with a kick to the head that shatters his spine. Han then angrily demands of Ch’u, who reveals he had Po killed to protect his business venture. Ch’u then asks if Han plans to kill him, who replies that he has already honored his brother’s memory by killing Kai, his murderer, and he plans to let fate decide what to do with Ch’u, since both the police and the families of the murdered Chinese property owners will soon be after him. As Han is walking away, his father commits suicide.

Han then meets up with Trish. They embrace and the two walk away together as the credits roll. According to the documentary The Slanted Screen Han and Trish were supposed to have a kissing scene, which explains the title of Romeo, but this was met with derision from a pre-screening, with an urban audience.

Taking 3D Films Further

Cinemas have been around forever. No matter what age you are, you can never grow out of visiting your local cinema. With more blockbuster movies hitting our screens, I do feel that new more than ever is the time cinemas should take full advantage.

With current advancements in technology we are seeing people wanting to stay at home much more, with the release of HD and Blu-Ray there is really no reason to keep visiting the cinema. Ok yes it is a good social experience, but for the amount you are paying, you could in fact wait a few more months and buy the Disc and watch it an unlimited amount of times.

I feel now is the best time to get into the 3D animation sector. They already give us Dolby surround sound so why not go the whole mile and give us surround vision?

3D movies have been around for a long time, the days where you had to put on your special 3D specs and watch the movie were great, but it did effect the film quality making the image very distorted. There are two approaches in which I feel the cinemas should take, first and foremost if they are going to hand out specs let them be futuristic 3D glasses so that we can get the full quality experience from it.

The second feature and most exciting in my mind, is to make the movie theatre into an actual movie. Why just have a screen at the front? Get projectors to turn the room into an antual movie? When you look up you will see the sky and when you look down you will see the films ground. This can be done using obstruction lights and high resolution paint on walls.

Can you imagine how awesome it would be to watch an action movie like that? It would be like you are actually in the movie. The cinemas should take note and up their technology before it is too late, the cinema needs to develop itself just like home entertainment has been doing.
